About Corbies Rest

As a Husband and Wife team (with the enthusiastic, albeit somewhat questionable, help of our young sons!) River View Guest house is a true labour of love for our family.

In 2017 We fell in love with this lovely house on the river at first sight and were delighted to be able to buy it in 2018, instantly knowing this grand old lady of 1810 just needed a bit of love and attention to bring her back to her brilliant best. I gave up my full-time job to run River View while Graeme has (for now at least!) retained his.
While updating the house we have approached the rooms with a desire to provide neutral, fresh and cosy surroundings while retaining as much of the building’s character as possible. The interiors have been carefully chosen to reflect our design style & aesthetics, in the hope we can offer our guests a quirky alternative to chain hotels. We know the floors are wonky and the walls arent straight but we have embraced and
worked with that, and we think the results are far more endearing.

Along with all the work indoors, Graeme has redesigned and landscaped the front garden for our guests to be welcomed by and, as a riot of colour in the summer, enjoy during their stay. Similar work still continues in the back garden with many more beautiful plans for the house, home and garden as the year goes on.

The guest house itself has limited free parking, however with Bellfield park only a minute’s walk away parking is no problem whatsoever, and naturally we will cover the cost of any overspill should it be required.

We might be situated in the centre of town but it can be very easy to forget that; step outside and within minutes you can be strolling South along the Ness Islands feeling like you are in a country estate; cross the 19th Century suspension bridge immediately in front of the guest house for picturesque estuary views and on for a short walk to the Eden court theatre or a round trip with a ten minute stroll along the riverside to the town centre. Whether it be St Andrew’s Cathedral, a little retail therapy at the Eastgate Shopping Centre or meals out to sample our famous Scottish hospitality…all are within fifteen minutes’ easy walk.

To help kick-start your busy day freshly cooked breakfasts are served each morning using local sourced produce and we cater to any dietary requirements. Our aim is to give our guests a proper highland welcome and hope they fall in love with Inverness as much as we have.
